Share your story as part of TKE’s legacy and be published in TKE’s 125th anniversary book!

We are excited to announce our Oral History Project as part of TKE’s upcoming 125th anniversary. You will be hearing from PCI, our trusted partner, via postcard, email, and/or phone.  Please take a few minutes to respond and share your story.

On the phone, they will check your contact information and make any necessary updates.  Then you will have the opportunity to do a brief interview on the phone that will be recorded.  All recorded interviews will be stored digitally in the TKE archives.  Stories that are considered for publication in our 125th anniversary book will be reviewed and edited and then confirmed with you as the source before anything goes to print.  You will also have the opportunity to share a headshot picture with your story if you’re being included in the book.

You will be given the opportunity to make a donation to the TKE Foundation while on the call.  Please consider donating $125 in honor of our 125th.  These charitable donations to the Foundation are the only proceeds going to TKE.

You will also have the opportunity to purchase a book and/or TKE apparel if you wish.  Proceeds from product sales benefit PCI, the company doing the outreach for us.  This is classic telemarketing, not high pressure sales.  If you say no to the first offer, they will offer you a smaller, lower-priced option to consider.  If you don’t want to buy anything, just say no.

Regardless of whether you want to make a purchase, I hope you will take a few minutes to share your story and then encourage more of your fellow alumni to do the same.

Yours in the Bond,

Chris Niles
Director of Alumni & Advancement

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a legitimate project or is it a scam?

Yes, it’s legit! We have partnered with PCI (also known as Publishing Concepts) to produce an Oral History Publication for TKE’s 125thanniversary.  PCI is a family owned business based in Dallas, TX that has published directories for educational institutions, fraternities, sororities, and military organizations across the nation for 100 years. They published our alumni directory project two years ago and also 10 years before that. The Oral History Project allows us to gather your stories and personal experiences and explain how TKE has helped impact your life.

Does TKE benefit from this at all?

1. Legacy – preserves your stories and celebrates the history of Tau Kappa Epsilon
2. Updated Information – allows us to more effectively communicate with and engage members
3. Alumni Support – choosing to make a donation to the TKE Foundation supports our leadership and educational programming. Please consider making a $125 gift in honor of TKE's 125th anniversary.
4. Pride – wearing apparel shows support and love for our organization

5. Profits from book and merchandise sales go directly to PCI.

How do I know my information will only be used for Oral History Project purposes?

PCI is committed to protecting your information. The names, addresses and information provided to PCI for the publication of the Oral History Project will be held confidential by PCI, except to the extent that they are utilized in, or in the preparation of, the Oral History Project and except as required by court order or law. Upon completion of the project, PCI will redact PII (Personal Identifiable information) from any and all electronic files that we have supplied or were produced by PCI in connection with the production of the Oral History Project

I would like to verify or update my information and share a story. How may I do this?

If you have received a postcard or an email with a telephone number, you may call the number to speak with a dedicated representative for the Oral History Project. The representative will verify all the information we have on file for you, make any updates where needed, then ask you to share your story about your time with Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. All recorded interviews will be stored in the TKE Archives. Stories being considered for publication will be edited and verified again with the source before going to print.

If you have received an email with an embedded link, you may go to the online site to review your information and submit a story.

Can I choose what information prints in the publication?

When you call to update your information, you can tell the representative if you prefer any of your information be excluded. You can also communicate your preferences to PCI’s customer service helpdesk at 1-800-982-1590 / customerservice@publishingconcepts.com

I updated my information but need some more time to think about what experience to share.

You can call back at any time to share your story.Don’t miss out on the opportunity to be included in the 125th anniversary book.

I shared a story and the representative said I could send some photos. How do I do this?

You will receive an email with a link to upload up to two photos (black and white or color) plus captions.  If you have also purchased a book but do not have an email address on file, you will be sent a photo mailer to send physical photos in to be printed (note: photos will be returned if you include a self-addressed, stamped envelope).

I ordered a book / package over the phone and would like to cancel my order. How do I do this?
