No Shave November Winner

Austin Sorensen
Newberry College, Omicron-Theta Chapter

INDIANAPOLIS - In addition to Election Day, Thanksgiving and the St. Jude Give thanks. Walk, November is a month where facial hair runs rampant across the country. And as many individuals choose to celebrate an intermission in shaving, they are able to help the children of St. Jude.

Tau Kappa Epsilon teamed up with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for the November-long event No Shave for St. Jude Kids. Throughout the month, Tekes raised money for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by utilizing social media platforms and reaching out to friends and family members. We are proud to say that we receiving an overwhelmingly positive response as countless individuals proudly showed off their facial hair as a way to support the children of St. Jude.

Many Fraters around the nation shared their progress by using #Beards4StJude on various social media platforms. Additionally, the Offices of the Grand Chapter shared updates on our Facebook page, Twitter page, and, of course, Instagram page throughout the month.

While a number of men took part in No Shave for St. Jude, Austin Sorensen from the Omicron-Theta chapter at Newberry College was able to raise the most money in TKE Nation. By utilizing his resources, Austin doubled his goal of $500 by raising $1,020. "It was awesome being able to make such a difference while saving money on razors," said Austin.

The Offices of the Grand Chapter would like to congratulate all the Fraters who took part in No Shave for St. Jude Kids. We're already looking forward to next year's beards!

St. Jude Give thanks. Walk. - Recap

On November 22, 2014, Tekes around the nation gathered in more than 65 communities to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Last year, TKE raised more than $45,000 during the St. Jude Give thanks. Walk. This year, we made it a goal to soar past that number and make this a year to remember. Sure enough, many Fraters from around the nation took the challenge, and together we raised over $69,000 for St. Jude!

It is because of your efforts and your dedication to the children of St. Jude that Danny Thomas' lifesaving mission lives on. The Offices of the Grand Chapter would like to recognize the groups who worked diligently over the past several months to give back to the children of St. Jude. The top teams to fundraise for the St. Jude Give thanks. Walk are as follows:

From the Offices of the Grand Chapter and the families of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, thank you for your time and effort in giving back to such a noteworthy organization. Danny Thomas is famously quoted for his motivation in establishing the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in saying, "No child should die in the dawn of life." The selflessness demonstrated by men of Tau Kappa Epsilon cannot be understated. Thank you, TKE Nation.
