TKE Colonization in the Northeast & Canada
The Grand Council of Tau Kappa Epsilon has unanimously approved the re-colonization at Long Island University Post in Long Island, New York and the colonization at York University in Toronto, Canada.
Founded in 2008, Long Island University Post Campus is the largest campus of the private Long Island University system. 4,500 undergraduate students are represented by 5 fraternities and 7 sororities. This re-colonization brings an excited group of leaders to a growing Greek community and institution.
Colony Epiprytanis Dylan Jensen said, "We are excited to be part of the best fraternity in the world. We want to bring back our chapter on campus and through alumni support, help our Greek community build an even more positive environment for the students at LIU.
Also in Region 1 is the new colonization at York University in Toronto, Canada. Founded in 1959, York has an enrollment of over 55,000 students. The TKE Canadian expansion continues as the colony members hope to leave behind a legacy of being the best fraternity in their community.
Colony Prytanis Thomas Sedgemore said, "We decided to become a part of TKE and start a colony because we wanted the full college experience. Being a part of something bigger than yourself will give our brotherhood friendships that will last a lifetime."
Support from TKE's Office of the Grand Chapter is led by Regional Director, Pete Dawson and Associate Regional Director, Gabe Espinosa. "These two colonies of Tau Kappa Epsilon will do great things on their campuses and will represent our fraternity with pride. This is another step of growth for our fraternity and an addition to the already striving success that comes from the northeast and Canada" said Frater Espinosa.
