Shawn A. Babine, CEO of TKE Joins Angelwish Board of Directors
NEW YORK CITY, NY. (October 28, 2013) – On October 21, 2013, from the opening floor of NASDAQ, Angelwish Founder and Chief Executive Officer Shimmy Mehta announced that Shawn A. Babine has been elected to its board of directors, effective October 28, 2013. He is chief executive officer of Tau Kappa Epsilon International Fraternity, one of North America's largest collegiate social fraternities. Based in Indianapolis Indiana, the private men's association has more than 267,000 members in chapters and affiliations through the United States, Canada and Germany.
Founded in 1899, Tau Kappa Epsilon is one of the world's most prestigious fraternities boasting a current membership list that include such men as President Ronald Reagan, former presidential candidate and Congressman Bob Barr, Governor Michael Huckabee, NFL Founder George Halas, Phil Simms, Marv Levy, and today's Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. And, include such businessmen as Conrad Hilton, Howard Schultz founder of Starbucks and SAS Institute CEO Dr. James Goodnight.
Created in 1999, Angelwish is dedicated to providing the public with an easy way to grant wishes to millions of children living with chronic illnesses such as asthma, diabetes, and HIV/AIDS around the world. The charity works on six continents with over 110 hospitals and care centers in the United States and an additional 15 care centers in 9 other countries. Angelwish was founded by Rutgers University–Newark alumnus and TKE Frater Shimmy Mehta, a member of the Theta-Zeta Chapter. Frater Mehta received the 2011 TKE Alumnus of The Year Award for outstanding accomplishments and performance in a person's career or field of endeavor.

When asked how he works to ensure Angelwish is so successful, Mehta pointed out that Angelwish achieves its mission by ensuring that 100% of individual donations are used for program services and that those funds are extended, where possible, to incorporate an educational component giving young people a hands on lesson in philanthropy.
Frater Babine's willingness to serve with Angelwish stresses the importance and reminds us all that being Better Men for a Better World requires us to not limit yourself to opportunities within TKE, but to get involved with community and philanthropic causes whenever and wherever possible. Babine grew up in Bath, Maine and earned a degree in economics from the University of Southern Maine, masters from Southern New Hampshire University, and advanced degree work at Villanova and Northeastern University.
Prior to his start as TKE CEO in May 2012, Babine served on the Fraternity's Board of Directors from 2009 to 2012, and served briefly as the Interim Chief Executive Officer (2010-2011) while the Board completed an international search. Shawn's tenure in the banking sector included senior management roles at Key Bank and TD Bank. Shawn is a resident of Indianapolis, Indiana and Scarborough, Maine.
