INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – It is with immense sadness that the Offices of the Grand Chapter announces the passing of Grand Officer, Frater Anthony Clemens (Nu-Mu, University of South Alabama).
Frater Clemens was a dedicated servant leader who held numerous volunteer roles prior to his time on the Grand Council. He was a staple at TKE Leadership Programs, attending Conclaves and nearly every RLC for the past decade. Frater Tony was selected as a Grand Council Member At-Large in 2012-2013, elected Grand Hegemon two terms extending from 2013-2017, two terms as Grand Hypophetes from 2017-2022, and Grand Pylortes in the most recent biennium 2024-2026.
Frater Tony was a Life Loyal Teke who received the Key Leader Award (twice), Volunteer of Month, Order of the North, Business Council Award, TKE Foundation Medal of Excellence, and the Love, Charity, and Esteem Award. He attended and served during scores of Chartering Ceremonies, Chapter Anniversaries, and Province Forums.
Chief Executive Officer, Donald E. Aldrich noted “Frater Tony was a force of nature in how he traversed TKE Nation showcasing his passion and dedication to Tau Kappa Epsilon. He loved many things including his family, sports (especially the University of Notre Dame and Chicago Cubs), music concerts, and TKE. Frater Clemens was an example of living life to the fullest, as he was always up for an adventure or new experiences. Our Fraternity was better because Frater Tony joined our bond and committed himself to the magnificent obsession that is TKE. Frater Clemens searched aggressively on a daily basis in how to make our Fraternity better and deliver more for every man who wears our badge. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Jennifer and son Will, who will remain an integral part of our TKE family. We will honor Frater Tony and his legacy by making TKE an organization of excellence.”
Venerable Grand Prytanis, Charles W. Whittington, Jr. reflected “Tony Clemens’ life stands as a powerful example of what Tau Kappa Epsilon strives to cultivate in every member. He understood that Fraternity is far more than membership in an organization – it is a lifelong commitment to leadership, service, friendship, and personal growth. Through his dedication to TKE, his service on the Grand Council, and his unwavering commitment to help others, Frater Tony demonstrated the very qualities that define a Better Man. He led not by seeking recognition, but by investing his time, wisdom, and energy into strengthening the lives of those around him. His character reflected the values of integrity, humility, and selfless service that have long been the foundation of our Fraternity. Frater Clemens influence extended far beyond his own accomplishments. He believed in developing people, building relationships, and creating opportunities for others to succeed. In doing so, he made a lasting contribution to a better world, one person, one chapter, and one act of service at a time. His legacy reminds us that the true measure of a man is not found in titles held or honors received, but in the lives he touches and the positive impact he leaves behind. As we remember Tony, we celebrate a life that exemplified the TKE ideal and challenge ourselves to carry forward his example of advancing the mission of TKE. We may honor his memory not only with our words, but through our actions, ensuring that the values he lived each day continue to inspire future generations of Tekes. Frater Tony’s journey is a testament to the transformative power of the Fraternity and to the enduring truth that one dedicated individual can make an extraordinary difference in the lives of many.”

Per Chapter XXIII, Sec. 2 of the Black Book, all members of TKE should wear a black ribbon under their badge for the next 14 days. Additionally, all TKE flags should be displayed at half-mast.
