Omicron-Rho Fraters Come to the Rescue
TEXAS -The men of the Omicron-Rho chapter of Texas Tech came to the aid of Frater Mario Landeros as he makes his way across the country on foot. As many have seen. Frater Landeros is walking across the United States to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The 3500 plus mile trek started in Boston on April 22, 2019 and will conclude in Los Angeles, CA this winter.
During his journey, Frater Landeros is pushing a cart with his supplies and gear. This week, Omicron-Rho Tekes came to his aid when they were made aware that his cart suffered a catastrophic failure along the highway. He left the Fort Worth approximately a week earlier, with Lubbock, Texas, as his next big city stop.
With his cart broken, Frater Mario found himself stranded about 100 miles from Lubbock. It was late in the day with cold temperatures in the forecast for the evening.
When notified of Frater Mario’s predicament, Frater Michael Estrada, Prytanis of Omicron-Rho, sprang into action. Without hesitation, Frater Michael finish the exam he was working on and, along with two other Fraters (Brandon Morris, Hypophetes and Justin Santos, Hegemon), got in his vehicle and headed out to help a Frater they had never met.
Within an hour and a half, Frater Michael and his team were able to locate Frater Landeros and bring him safely back to Lubbock for some well-earned rest and relaxation. Today, Frater Mario is enjoying some down-home, Texas-style hospitality, compliments of the men of Omicron-Rho.
