Saints, Colts Connections Heading to Super Bowl
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the first time in franchise history, the New Orleans Saints are heading to the Super Bowl to square off against the Indianapolis Colts. Over the Public Address system at the Superdome in New Orleans, fans heard Frater Jerry Romig (Grand Chapter) announce, “Ain’t this beautiful? The Saints are going to the Super Bowl.” Up north about 900 miles, the Indianapolis Colts celebrated a return trip to the Super Bowl after winning in 2006. Former Executive Vice President, Bob Terpening (Epsilon-Xi) helped build the champions in 2006 and this Super Bowl team before retiring earlier this year.
Frater Jerry Romig is the father of Mark Romig, PGP and has been the Saints PA Announcer for more than 40 years, while Terpening held various posts with the Colts for nearly 40 years. In addition, the official mascot for the Colts “Blue” is Frater Trey Mock (Beta-Lambda). Dave Calabro (Gamma-Psi) will be reporting on the Super Bowl for the Indianapolis affiliate of NBC. Saints’ Director of College Scouting Rick Reiprish (Kappa-Upsilon) has brought in such notable stars including future Pro Bowlers DE Will Smith, RB Reggie Bush, S Roman Harper, WR Marques Colston, and finding un-drafted free agent RB Pierre Thomas.
