Bill Bruns Scholarship Announced
Thirty years of giving back to the Fraternity that he loves. This is the milestone recently celebrated by Frater Bill Bruns, Gamma-Kappa (Indiana University).
Since his initiation thirty years ago, Frater Bruns has been a supporter of this Magnificent Obsession in various capacities, but possibly best known for serving as an Advisor for the Gamma (University of Illinois, 1995-2003), Beta-Chi (SIU-Carbondale, 2005-present) and Gamma-Kappa (Indiana University, 2013-present) chapters. He has advised each as they worked to be re-colonized, was with each as they received their charter and continued to be with them as they were recognized as a Top TKE Chapter under his advisement. Frater Bill is quick to give credit for these accomplishments to other Fraters during each of these milestones, however it is difficult to ignore his influence on these groups’ accomplishments.
In recognition of Frater Bruns’ service to Tau Kappa Epsilon, it was only fitting to create a scholarship in his name that acknowledges his service to the Gamma, Beta-Chi and Gamma-Kappa chapters. Fraters from these three chapters will be eligible to apply for this scholarship. To be considered for this award, it is important that Fraters demonstrate service to Fraternity, campus and community; just as Frater Bruns has demonstrated his own commitment and support to these three chapters, their respective universities and the organizations in their communities.
When approached about this recognition, Frater Bruns responded as anyone who has ever had him as an Advisor might expect, by offering to match the first $730 in donations to this scholarship, which is his scroll number at Gamma-Kappa.
Any Frater who would like to recognize and support Frater Bruns’ history of service may contribute to the Bill Bruns Commitment to Service Scholarship today.
