Top Scholarship Recipients RONALD REAGAN LEADERSHIP AWARD
Joshua Nixon
Beta-Eta Chapter
Missouri University of Science & Technology
"My membership in Tau Kappa Epsilon, along with my involvement in other organizations and the community, has had an enormous impact. Although my classes and schoolwork are providing a basis for my future career, it does not provide me the skills and experiences necessary to help me grow as a person and work with other people of all personalities to achieve common goals. Whether it was during my term as Prytanis, Hypophetes, or rush chairman, membership in Tau Kappa Epsilon changed me as a leader. Achieving my career goals is now possible with my developed organizational skills, mindset, and perseverance with working alongside others to overcome problems. Most of all though, it’s the brotherhood in TKE that is most meaningful to me. As NASA astronaut and fellow Frater Gerald Carr stated, “Friendships built while in Tau Kappa Epsilon are valuable and long-lasting.” No matter where my future career takes me, I know that I will always have lifelong friends and people to depend on to help me achieve my goals, and I wouldn’t have that without Tau Kappa Epsilon."
CHARLES R. WALGREEN, JR. LEADERSHIP AWARD
Dillon Warr
Iota-Beta Chapter
Susquehanna University
"Tau Kappa Epsilon has profoundly altered my life. It has developed my leadership potential, has tested my resolve, and has given me confidence in my own abilities. My brothers form an unbelievable support base that has driven my success in academics and athletics. At the same time, being Greek has helped me construct a functional work-life balance that will be applicable in my future career as a physician. Without my fraternity, I would not be as prepared to embrace the world outside Susquehanna University. It has given me the life skills that will prove invaluable in all my future endeavors. I know that the opportunity to be part of such a network of dedicated individuals has and will continue to foster my personal growth and development."
CHARLES R. WALGREEN, JR. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Shane McClure
Upsilon-Delta Chapter
Saginaw Valley State University
"Being an initiated member of Tau Kappa Epsilon has opened countless doors of opportunity for me, and all within my first two years in college. As stated above, I have attended Leadership Academy, Conclave, and most recently Triangle Summit. I also hold the position of Epiprytanis, for which I was previously nominated after two months of being initiated. But the benefit of TKE doesn't stop with these events. Being a part of something much larger than myself, an international fraternity of over 270,000 members, has allowed me to be a more confident person, to network with a variety of fraters across North America, and has become a part of who I am. Everyone I meet knows my commitment to my fraternity, and how it has completely changed my life."
JOHN A. COURSON TOP SCHOLAR
Joshua Sosebee

"I want to graduate with a BSN and continue to graduate school to become a Physician's Assistant. I feel that I have been able to make connections that will allow me to advance my career. TKE has allowed to me to gain valuable leadership experience and become a leader in my chapter. This will also allow me to be a better man in my professional career."
