Texas Heat Providing Push
SAN MARCOS, Texas - As many of us are aware, having a strong summer recruitment program is a great way to reach out to incoming freshmen and transfer students to help with rush results in the fall. Some chapters and colonies invest time and money over the summer in recruitment while others spend it preparing for the fall. The men of Xi-Xi Chapter at Texas State University in San Marcos does both.
Despite experiencing the worst drought in Texas History and trying economic conditions, the Fraters at Xi-Xi have been going at rush with a new zeal this summer. They have hosted BBQ’s, House Visits and River days, reaching out to incoming students in every way possible to guarantee a large and successful recruitment.
"We started with some small events," said Prytanis Corey Vorn Kahl. "Barbecues and small groups of brothers taking potential new members out to dinner were a staple in the summer. Since people have started coming back into San Marcos this past month, we have really expanded our operations to accommodate a growing demand and group of interested men."
Recently, the Tekes hosted the ladies of Delta Zeta for a sisterhood day and recruitment practice with the chapter. The DZ’s are extremely supportive of Xi-Xi and TKE at Texas State. It’s a testament to the character of the chapter that they are able to cultivate a positive social relationship with sororities while continuing to recruit and give back to their community and philanthropic causes.
"To be frank, if all of our chapters put as much work into being successful as Xi-Xi, TKE chapters would be powerhouses all across the country," said Frater Aaron Pattison (Beta-Sigma, Univ. of Southern California) an Associate Regional Director for Region 2 (the South). "I am excited to visit with these guys. It is fun to work with chapters that put that extra effort in to be great on their campus."
After this latest summer event the DZ’s documented their support of TKE’s Rush. The sky is the limit for these Fraters. How about you?
