Tommy Miles, Order of the Golden Eagle, Enters Chapter Eternal
With a heavy heart, Tau Kappa Epsilon is saddened to share Frater Thomas "Tommy" Miles (Xi-Chi, Kennesaw State) entered the Chapter Eternal on May 11, 2020. He passed peacefully in his sleep and is survived by his wife, Linda, his brother Lance, nephew Burke and niece Merideth Shalvey. He was 68 years old.
Frater Miles was initiated into Tau Kappa Epsilon in 1976. He has been a staple at Tau Kappa Epsilon programs attending his first Conclave in 1981 and attended in his 20th Conclave this past August. Frater Tommy received the Order of the Golden Eagle at Conclave 2019, Order of the Silver Maple Leaf in 2009, Medal of Excellence in 2002, a Key Leader Award in both 1985 and 1990 as well as the Order of the North in 2017 and Southern Order of Honor in 1989. He served as a volunteer for both his home chapter as well as a province-level volunteer for Arkansas and Georgia.
In recent years, Tommy has attended Regional Leadership Conferences and shared mini TKE flags and banners with collegiate members and alumni alike. He and his wife, Linda, often traveled chapter to chapter teaching how simple it was to screen-print your own shirts.
TKE Chief Executive Officer, Frater Donald E. Aldrich (Rho-Upsilon, Franklin) shared, "TKE Nation mourns the loss of Tommy Miles. Tommy dedicated nearly 45 years of his life to Tau Kappa Epsilon. He was a living embodiment of a Frater who developed his abilities and contributed them to the Fraternity for Life. Our hearts go out to Linda and the Miles family. He will be sorely missed."
