Upsilon-Chi Holds Second Annual Seesaw for a Chance

Fraters from the Upsilon-Chi chapter at St. Francis College held their second annual Seesaw for a Chance last weekend in the heart of Brooklyn Heights. For 52 consecutive hours, brothers from the chapter took turns seesawing in an effort to raise funds and awareness for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The event pushed off at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 23, and came to a close at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 25. Local sororities showed their support by providing hot chocolate, face painting, baked goods and more.

"It was a cold, long weekend, but the men of the chapter stood resilient," David Datzkow, chapter Prytanis, said. "I'm extremely proud of the work we were able to accomplish over the weekend."

The chapter has raised a total of $13,080 to date but will continue to fundraise through Halloween weekend. Although, as David says, they'll never truly be done.

"Compared to the $1.9 million daily operating cost of St. Jude, this may not be much, but it's another step toward fulfilling Frater Danny Thomas' dream that ‘no child dies in the dawn of life.'"
