Tau Kappa Epsilon Thanks Alex Baker for More Than Decade of Service
INDIANAPOLIS – Tau Kappa Epsilon announced with deep gratitude for more than 12 years of service that Alex Baker (Upsilon-Iota, IUPUI) is departing the TKE Professional Staff. His new career will provide him an opportunity to travel less and spend more time with his 7-year old son.
Donald E. Aldrich, TKE’s Chief Executive Officer, shared, "We are saddened to see the departure of Alex Baker, while simultaneously thrilled for his new professional opportunity. All of us at TKE have been impacted by his innovative work in technology, data, and communications. Frater Baker brought passion and a deep work ethic each day to his role within our Fraternity. He not only spearheaded numerous projects during his time on the Professional Staff, but weathered personal tragedy that he has spoken openly about in THE TEKE. I will miss him as a friend, a colleague, and someone who challenged himself and the organization to be better. We wish him nothing but the greatest success in the future. I am confident he will remain an engaged member of our Teke family and a contributor to further advancing our mission in the months and years ahead!"
In 2009, Frater Baker’s IT consulting company was hired to help handle day-to-day IT tasks and website maintenance. Over the course of the contract, TKE and Baker analyzed and implemented a new database including Chapter Module and MyTKE.org. In November 2012, he joined the TKE Professional Staff as the Director of Information Technology. In August 2013, he was promoted to Chief Information Officer and the 34th Editor of THE TEKE Magazine. He is now the third longest-running Editor in its 114-year history behind Fraters Leland F. Leland (25 years) and Mike Moxley (11 years). During his time as Editor, Tau Kappa Epsilon has been recognized seven times by the Fraternity Communications Association, including Baker’s recognition as the Marilyn Simpson Ford Distinguished Service Award.
Under his leadership as the Chief Information Officer, Tau Kappa Epsilon has rebranded THE TEKE Magazine, overhauled TKE.org, developed an eLearning platform at EDU.TKE.org, released four editions of The Teke Guide, released a new Silver Book for the first time in 14 years, launched the TKE Nation Podcast, launched TKEStore.com amongst countless other items.
Baker has led the charge to make Tau Kappa Epsilon a leader in data analytics and information sharing. Through the creation of Chapter Module’s Health Tab, MyTKE.org’s home page, volunteer recruitment tools and more, collegiates, volunteers and alumni have access to more information and insights about our chapters than we’ve ever had. Additionally, through his involvement in our partnership with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, TKE has completed two commitments and is in the middle of a 10-year, $10 million commitment.
Frater Baker shared, "It has been the honor of a lifetime to have been able to serve the men of Tau Kappa Epsilon for as long as I have. I am beyond thankful for the opportunities I have been given, the personal development and the friendships I’ve created. The success Tau Kappa Epsilon has been able to enjoy over the years is due in large part to the men and women who live the Fraternity focusing on putting our members first each and every day. I am thankful to be counted amongst them and trust the TKE Professional Staff to continue the legacy to expect excellence. I have full confidence in the leadership of the TKE Professional Staff, Grand Council and TKE Foundation Board to further the great work done. As a widowed dad, I am excited to be home more often to attend important milestone events in Riley's life."
Frater Baker begins his new role at Zotec Partners on April 11. He has committed to continue serving Tau Kappa Epsilon for years to come including at Conclave 2022.
