#BM4BW – Tekes Making An Impact

The Beta-Delta chapter at University of Maryland, Delta-Pi chapter at Eastern Michigan University, Epsilon-Sigma chapter at University of Central Oklahoma University, and Nu-Mu chapter at University of South Alabama are making big impacts in their communities.

The Tekes at University of Maryland were recently selected by the Fraternity and Sorority Life department as the Greek Paragon Award winners for 2014.  The award recognizes those chapters that have achieved something unique on the UMD campus – be a unique program or the actions the chapter takes to resolve a difficult situation.  Contributing factors for Beta-Delta's nomination were their annual Mr. Greek Pageant which raised over $5,000 for the Alzheimer's Association, the Frater accountability progress, and TKE Work Day initiative.

Delta-Pi was recognized as being excellent in Positive Relationships, Civic Engagement, Integration of Purpose, Most Total Chapter Study Hours, and Overall Excellence.  Matthew Jones was also recognized as the Greek Man of the Year.  They received these awards through the Greek Standards and Assessment Program from their Greek Life department.

Because of their efforts through the St. Jude Jumpathon, the Mayor & City Council of Edmund, OK recognized the Epsilon-Sigma chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon through a commendation.  They were presented this award at a recent meeting.  The chapter's 80 hour Jumpathon raised over $2,000 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Two fraters from the Nu-Mu chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon were recognized by the University of South Alabama Greek life department.  Vikash Pernenkil was recognized as Greek Man of the Year and Sidney Jackson was selected as the 2013 Outstanding IFC President.  Nu-Mu Tekes have also performed over 300 community service hours this fiscal year.

Congratulations to the Beta-Delta, Delta-Pi, Epsilon-Sigma, & Nu-Mu chapters of Tau Kappa Epsilon!  Way to keep building Better Men for a Better World!
