Shawn Babine Appointed to the Grand Council

Frater Shawn BabineINDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Grand Council and Offices of the Grand Chapter are pleased to announce the appointment of Shawn Babine (Lambda-Delta, Univ. of Southern Maine) to the vacant Grand Hegemon seat. Frater Shawn left the board to serve in as the interim Chief Executive Officer of TKE. Grand Prytanis Herb Songer (Alpha-Upsilon, Fort Hays State Univ.) is looking forward to once again work with this dedicated and talented Frater.

"His selfless service to this organization speaks volumes of his character. His proven leadership and track record in the business world, plus his experience as a TKE volunteer, including his most recent role on the staff, will serve us well on the Grand Council," said Frater Herb. 

Shawn is the 2009 Volunteer of the Year Award recipient. As a TKE Volunteer, Shawn has held numerous alumni leadership roles including attending several Regional Leadership Conferences, Province Educational Conferences, the Alumni Volunteer Academy and Regional Planning Conferences. He has served on several Chapters’ Board of Advisors; including service as Chairman, and as a District Vice President, Province Advisor and most recently as the Michael J. Morin Province Grand Province Advisor. Shawn enjoys his membership in area alumni associations including the Greater Boston TKE Alumni Association and as the TKE Northeast Ironmen Alumni Association’s President. During the 2007-2009 Biennium, Frater Shawn served as a member of the Grand Council’s Education’s Committee’s Sub-Committee on Province Educational Conferences, and was the first Chairman of the TEF’s Foundation Ambassadors Program.

He is a proud donor to the TKE Educational Foundation at the life time giving level of the Scholars Society and a pledge towards the Commitment to Excellence Campaign, a Life Loyal Teke member and was admitted into the Order of the North. He, his wife Terry and daughter Olivia reside in Scarborough, Maine.  Please welcome Frater Shawn as he begins a new chapter in his leadership within TKE.
