Are there changes needed in the Black Book?
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Offices of the Grand Chapter is in need of your help to keep the fraternity moving forward. At the 2011 Conclave in San Antonio, Texas (August 4-7), changes to the Black Book will be voted on.
Black Book Changes
This memorandum serves as notice that proposed amendments to the Articles of Incorporation, International Constitution, and International Bylaws & Traditions (collectively referred to as the Black Book) will be considered at the Second Session of the Grand Chapter, held on Saturday, August 6, 2011.
Any collegiate chapter, chartered alumni association, member of the Grand Council, international TKE committee, or Past Grand Prytanis may propose amendments to any section of the Black Book, provided that the amendment(s) are received by the Chief Executive Officer of the Fraternity no later than January 31, 2011. The Grand Council will meet later in the Spring to receive and review all proposals.
*Please format proposals with the Article and Section in question, current language and then proposed change. This will expedite the process and allow for easier organization to ensure all suggestions are reviewed properly. (e.g. Article I, Section 1 The name of the corporation is Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. Proposed Change: The name of the corporation is Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity Awesomeness. The reason this needs to change is...)*
If you are qualified to propose legislation and wish to have that legislation considered at the 2011 Conclave, please send your written proposal to:
Shawn Babine, LLT
Chief Executive Officer

Proposed legislation must be received by Frater Babine no later than Monday, January 31, 2011. The Judiciary Committee will then review the proposals with the Grand Council during its conference call thirty days later. As you know, all chapters and colonies are required to be present at Conclave and attend the Grand Chapter meeting to elect the Grand Council for 2009-11 as well as vote on the proposed amendments to the Black Book.
Please make your plans now to attend Conclave (August 4-7, 2011), which promises to be one of the most successful in TKE's history. Check the TKE web site for more details on when registration will be online. Best fraternal wishes for a most successful professional and academic year.
