Frater Featured on Commercial, Makes MLS Squad

SAN JOSE, Calif. - In 2008, Frater Shea Salinas (Gamma-Mu, Furman University) was selected the top draft choice for Major League Soccer's San Jose Earthquakes. They described their selection as an opportunity to get quick results and contribute right away. One year later, Frater Shea has been featured in his own commercial, scored two goals and played brilliantly. Some experts believe 2009-10 will be his breakout year.

Frater Shea was a standout at Furman University as Prytanis of the Gamma-Mu Chapter and an attacking midfielder for the soccer team. In the 2008-09 season, he had two goals in 23 appearances as a reserve. This season, coaches believe he will play an increased role as things progress and with injuries to other players, he may be called upon to step into a starting role.

Salinas played 77 games for Furman University, scoring 14 goals and recording 21 assists in his college career. He also played for the Carolina Dynamo of the PDL and was a USL PDL All-Conference Selection and Team MVP in 2007. In 2007, named to the NSCAA All-American Third Team and NSCAA All-South Region First Team and All-Southern Conference First Team, NSCAA Scholar All-American First Team, Career-high five goals and nine assists. In 2006, named All-Southern Conference First Team, NSCAA All-South Region Third Team and had three goals and seven assists. In 2005, scored four goals and notched four assists in 18 games.
