TKE Releases Statement on Charlottesville

In light of recent events, Tau Kappa Epsilon reaffirms our commitment to the founding principles and documents of our Fraternity. We have no tolerance for racial hatred and are committed to promoting the dignity and worth of every person.

We proudly recognize that since our founding in 1899, Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity has never had an exclusionary clause. Our Founders established a fraternity in which personal worth and character of the individual were measured, rather than the wealth he possessed, the honors or titles he could display, or the rank he maintained on the social ladder. We celebrate in word and deed the uniqueness of each Frater within TKE and the attributes of love, charity, and esteem.

“Tau Kappa Epsilon denounces violence, hate filled acts and bigotry. Each day, members of TKE dedicate themselves to living our values of love, charity and esteem. As these principles dominate our daily lives, Tekes are a driving force on their campuses and local communities toward building a better world,” stated Venerable Grand Prytanis Christopher T. Hanson (Alpha-Pi, George Washington University).

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Charlottesville community and the individuals, families and friends of those who suffered from the reprehensible violence.
