Chairman Elmer Smith Announces Gary Reed's Resignation

Dear Fraters and Friends,

Frater Campbell and I have received the resignation of Frater Gary A. Reed as President/Advancement Officer of the TKE Educational Foundation.  As many of you know, Frater Gary has been with us for 11 years and has led the Foundation through times of great success and challenge.

He accepted a position with The Buffett Senior Healthcare Company and begins his new work October 1, 2016.

While those of us who were close to Gary feel a sense of sadness and loss, he has assured us that he is a Teke for LIFE and will always be with us even though he no longer works for the Fraternity.

When Gary began in 2005, the assets of the Foundation totaled $3.1 million.  Today we stand at nearly $10 million. He has traveled to many different cities, chapters and activities to be with Tekes and to lend his encouragement and enthusiasm.

During his years as CEO/President of the TKE Educational Foundation, he worked closely with TEF and TKE Leaders alike. When he arrived, there were about $300,000 invested in educational endowments.  Today, those endowments total $2 million.

Perhaps the most significant accomplishment is how Gary always showed his care and compassion for the many Fraters he met – both young and old. You should know that we admire Frater Reed, respect his hard work, and compliment him on his many successes.  He has been, and we hope will continue to be closely involved with the Fraternity and the TKE Educational Foundation!

Please join me in wishing Gary the very best in his new career path.  His email is reedga@tke.org.

Yours In The Bond,

Elmer R. Smith
